This showcase of exceptional and innovative design in the use of timber will inspire others in the industry and serve as a valuable promotional tool for Award entrants across Australia.

The Australian Timber Design Awards are a national competition to promote and encourage outstanding timber design in the built environment professions. Now entering their 17th year, the Awards are distinguished by a proud heritage of innovation and achievement.

The aim of the Awards is to develop a timber design ethos through the encouragement and showcasing of superlative timber design in a variety of applications. A broad range of entry categories demonstrates the diversity of timber and permits recognition of achievement in a variety of areas.

The Australian Timber Design Awards are open to builders, designers, architects, engineers and landscapers: to anyone involved in the design or building of structures that feature timber. A separate section in the residential category is available to students and entrants aged 30 or under: The Rising Star Award. The best entry from an entrant who was (1) aged 35 or under on the date of project’s completion or (2) enrolled in full-time study on the completion date. The designer must be responsible for a substantial portion of the design and not just be a team member.

Timber is a beautiful, strong and environmentally friendly material. The Australian Timber Design Awards encourage entries that showcase these properties. Categories recognise outstanding use of timber in residential buildings and public or commercial buildings.
