About NABD

In the absence of a truly national building design association, the National Association of Building Designers was formed in July 2013 by the Building Designers Association of Queensland (BDAQ) and the Building Designers Association of Victoria (BDAV), and welcomed the Building Designers Association of Western Australia (BDAWA), the Building Designers Association of South Australia (BDASA) and the Building Designers Association of the Northern Territory (BDANT) in successive months from March to May 2014. The Association unifies in excess of 80% of the nation’s building design association members.

As at May 2014, the NABD had over 2600 in the association and represents 5 States/Territories.

The NABD aims to be the voice on national issues.

  • • To promote and develop the profession of Building Design and advance the quality of the built environment.
  • • To facilitate the exchange of information and foster continuing professional development.
  • • To circulate information affecting the profession of Building Design, to print, publish, circulate such papers, periodicals, books, circulars and any other literary publications as may seem conducive to the objects of the Association.
  • • To confer and enter into any discussions with any government, authority or industry.
  • • The Association will not affiliate with or support any sectarian body or political party.
